TRIKKE SCOOTER REVIEWS

With gas prices and parking fees on the rise, many people are turning to electric or human powered scooters as a means of saving money on monthly and annual transportation expenses.  By using an automobile less often, the “scooter commuter” can reduce auto operating costs and could make back in savings the money spent on a scooter.  The purchase of a scooter is an investment that has the potential to “pay for itself” while also providing benefits to the health and well being of the rider.

The Trikke (pronounced “trike”) brand scooter is a series of vehicles that have a design based on a three-wheel platform and a cambering system.  The Trikke product line includes the Trikke Pon-e electric scooter and several human powered scooters that are driven by the movement of the rider.  The Trikke Pon-e electric scooter is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery.  The Trikke human powered scooters are much more than the traditional kick scooter. Trikke Tech’s patented cambering technology allows a rider to continuously propel the scooter forward with the side-to-side movement of the rider.  The swerving motion of a Trikke rider looks similar to the zigzag motion of a slalom skier or an in-line skater, and skilled riders can cruise at speeds up to 17 mph.  Speed will vary with the rider’s weight and riding style, and with variations in wind and terrain.

Read the following reviews and you will see why these feature rich and high quality vehicles are among the best scooters on the market today.

TRIKKE ELECTRIC SCOOTER – THE RECHARGEABLE GAS SAVER

Trikke Pon-e Electric Scooter

The exceptional quality and versatility of the Trikke Pon-e makes it one of the best scooters on the market.  This ultra-light personal transporter is a hybrid scooter that has 2 modes of operation – electric power and human power.  It can be ridden passively using power from the rechargeable lithium battery.  Or it can be ridden manually using its Trikke Tech patented cambering mechanism and your rock and roll motion.  No pedaling makes it easy on the knees.   And no hard and uncomfortable seat to endure.

The average cost to operate the Trikke Pon-e cost less than $0.16 per charge, and it can go up to 28 miles on a single charge depending on your choice of the 36 volt or 48 volt battery.  Range will also vary with the rider’s weight and riding style, and with variations in wind and terrain.

Features include a twist grip throttle, 2 speed settings, powered front wheel drive, and dual rear disk brakes.  The Trikke Pon-e has a compact foldable aluminum frame which folds flat and makes it easy to carry and store.  It is suitable for adults, teens and pre-teens. The recommended age is 12 and up.  The recommended height is 5’ to 6’5”.  And the recommended weight limit is 250 lbs.

TRIKKE T12 ROADSTER SCOOTER – THE KING OF THE ROAD

Trikke T12 Roadster

The Trikke T12 Roadster is the “King of the Road”!  This scooter is suitable for adult and teen riders, and it is a good choice for riders who need a scooter that has a taller and larger frame.  The Trikke T12 Roadster makes an excellent scooter for long distance rides, commuting to work, and for running errands in the neighborhood.  And because the larger chassis carries more momentum, it is also preferred by top endurance riders who require high durability and performance for long distance rides.

The newer T12 Roadster features ergo grip handle bars, brake levers with parking locks, a height adjustable steering column and independent rear disc brakes.  The Trikke T12 Roadster has the compact foldable aluminum frame common to all Trikke brand scooters.  It is easy to carry with or without the custom carry bag (sold separately).  And the folded scooter fits nicely in the trunk of many cars.  The recommended age is 14 and up.  The recommended height is 5’ to 6’5”.  And the recommended weight limit is 250 lbs

TRIKKE T8 SCOOTER – THE “SWEET SPOT”

Trikke T8 Cambering Scooter

The Trikke T8 scooter is the most popular model and is what we like to call the “sweet spot” of the human powered models.  It is often preferred by adult and teenage riders because the frame is smaller than the T12 Roadster model and the pneumatic air tires on all 3 wheels provide more traction and a smoother ride than the T78 and smaller models.

In our experience, the T8 aircraft aluminum frame is also more rigid than the T78 steel frame which tends to have more “give” or more “play”.  Although steel is generally stronger than aluminum, the strength-to-weight ratio is higher for aluminum.  We believe that this fact may contribute to the difference in the “feel” of the ride.  So if you prefer a solid, well supported, and smooth ride then choose the Trikke T8 scooter.  If you prefer a ride that gives more “feel of the road” or you desire a frame that provides more flexibility during trick or freestyle riding then give the Trikke T78 scooter a try.

Both beginners and experienced riders like the Trikke T8 scooter which is highly suitable for short spins around the neighborhood, commuting to work, and long distance rides.   In our experience, a number of riders who buy other models eventually end up buying the Trikke T8 scooter after a test drive or borrowing one from a friend.  We think that the difference in the riding experience is well worth the price.  Yes, it’s that good and why we call the Trikke T8 scooter the “sweet spot” of the human powered Trikke scooters.

The Trikke T8 scooter folds easily like other Trikke models, and fits in the trunk of many cars.  A separate carry bag is available for the Trikke T8 scooter for an additional cost.  The T8 scooter features an aircraft grade aluminum frame, upgraded components, a height adjustable steering column and independent rear brakes

The recommended age is 12 and up.  The recommended height is 5’ to 6’5”.  And the recommended weight limit is 250 lbs

BIKEE – THE BALANCE BIKE FOR TOTS

Bikee Balance Bike for Tots

Look Mom, no … pedals!  The Bikee from Trikke Tech is the fun balance bike for kids ages 2 – 5.  Technically speaking, the Bikee is more bike than scooter.  But we add it here because it moves by a scoot, run and roll motion of the rider like a scooter.

The Bikee balance bike can be easier to learn than a tricycle or bicycle.  And after learning to ride a Bikee balance bike, tots may transition to a pedal bike with ease, confidence and often without cumbersome training wheels.

A key feature of the Bikee balance bike is that there are no pedals or gears, so the area for the legs is clear of any obstacles.  The rider is free to scoot, run and roll without obstruction.  The Bikee balance bike also features an adjustable handlebar and seat, and a durable frame that weighs only 7 lbs.  The light weight allows your child to lift and handle the Bikee balance bike for hours of fun, play and exercise.
